I am a member of the
United States Practical
Shooting Association.
The USPSA is the governing body of USA ISPC shooters. I am a member of
my local IPSC chapter called the "Brazosland Pistoleros". We shoot at the
Arrowhead Gun Club
range on the fourth Sunday morning of each
month at 9AM.
I enjoy target shooting with my SKS 7.62x39mm rifle. If you have an SKS,
check out the owners manual for the
SKS Type 56 rifle. It contains standard information on the assembly,
disassembly, cleaning, and safe handling of this rifle.
I believe there is a constitutional right to own and bear firearms. I am a
member of the National Rifle Association of
America, the Second Amendment
Foundation, and the The Citizens
Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

I am a firm believer in the Second Amendment to the US Consitution. I believe
our founding fathers secured our right to self-defense. For this reason,
I hold a Texas Concealed Hangun License (CHL). I believe that
a state which issues CHL's to qualified individuals is a safer place to live.
CHL holders help reduce crime by acting as a deterrent to potential violent
criminals who prey on law-abiding citizens.

Please note that the following list is by no means a comprehensive list:
I am proud to be an American and live in a country where the government
still trusts it's civilian population with the responsibility of firearm
ownership. I believe in the United States Constitution and the Bill of
Rights. I enjoy exercising my Second Amendment rights as a U.S. citizen.
I believe that the lawful ownership and use of firearms is a right
enumerated to law abiding individuals by our Bill of Rights. The first
ten amendments to the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES are called the
Bill of Rights because they provide basic legal protection for individual
rights. With each right comes a responsibility (Unfortunately, many people
forget this aspect of living in our great country). I believe that only
those individuals who are responsible should posses firearms.
I strongly support our local, state, and federal law enforcement
agencies in their battle against those who choose to break the law.
I do not support, condone, or affiliate with those who have set up
their own private militia or hate group.
Texas A&M; University has a school newspaper called the
Batallion. On
Friday, February 7, 1997 Brandon Hausenfluck wrote a column in the
Opinion Page entitled
'Right to carry law opens door to criminals'.
I disagreed strongly with Brandon's opinion (I really thought it was
a load of horse shit), so I wrote a
letter to the editor. Unfortunately,
the Batallion choose not to publish my response due to excessive
length. So I decided to trim down the letter. Even after I reduced
the length of the
response to 300 words, the Battalion refused to
publish my response. I guess we know where the edtiorial staff
of the Batallion stands on firearms issues.

Group Shoot held at the

Title II (National Firearms Act) Firearms
I enjoy shooting many different firearms, but I especially enjoy Title II firearms.
Title II firearms include machineguns, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns,
and suppressed firearms. Contrary to popular belief, NFA firearms can be
LEGALLY owned by individuals in most states. Note that some states prohibit
NFA firearm ownership by individuals. These firearms are severely restricted
and require an extensive background check to own. An interesting fact is that a
legally registered NFA firearm has NEVER been used by a civilian to commit a crime.
This is for good reason, a simple violation of the NFA is punishable by 10 years
in Federal prision and a $250,000.00 fine ! For more information, contact the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
If you are interested in owning a NFA firearm, I have condensed a brief overview
of the process:
Check out the Knob Creek on the Brazos Fall 1998
Shoot photos.
Please don't shoot ammunition of questionable origin though your
expensive NFA registered machinegun ! The following pictorial display
shows what can happen when you try to save money purchasing surplus,
loose packaged ammuntion instead of the slightly more expensive factory
sealed ammunition.
Check out the results of shooting Paragon
surplus ammunition in a registered receiver M16. Please note that
the ammunition in question was advertised as low cost, loose packed
ammuntion.

While on vacation in Florida, I stopped by Shooting Sport's located on Visitors
Circle in Orlando, Florida. Here I am checking out the
Heckler and Koch MP5 9mm Sub-machine gun. The H&K; MP5 is regarded as
the Cadillac of sub-machine guns. This MP-5 costs $5000 (Ouch....).
On a recent trip to a friend's property located on the Trinity River, I was
able to fire a number of different machineguns including a
Beretta BM-59 in 7.62 NATO
(a.k.a. .308 Winchester).
On the table in the foreground (near to far) are a number of
machineguns including a AK-47 (7.62x39mm), a Springfield M-14 (7.62 NATO),
a Colt M-16 (5.56 NATO), a integral suppressed 10/22 (.22LR - very quiet), a
H&K; 53 (5.56 NATO), a Mini-UZI (9mm), and a suppressed M11/9 (9mm).
Another picture of me firing a
Beretta BM-59 Machinegun in 7.62 NATO.
Note the Mini-UZI (9mm) and a suppressed M11/9 (9mm) on the table in the
foreground.

My friend, Jim Broome, passed away this past Tuesday, May 20, 1997. Jim served the USA in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Jim was a DPS certified concealed handgun instructor as well as an NRA approved firearms instructor. Overall, Jim was a staunch defender of the Second Amendment. In the last few years I worked closely with Jim setting up his web page for Arrowhead Gun Club. He was always friendly and humorous. We will all miss you, Jim.
